We are a leading independent school based in Greenwich in London. We operate a multi-purpose sports and leisure facility and are looking to recruit a Centre Operations Manager to join our team.

We are looking for a suitably experienced and qualified Manager to run and oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre, which includes use by Students, Staff, Centre Members and Swimming Academy plus commercial lettings to External Clubs and Holiday Camps. The role includes management of all associated staffing, administration, training and Health & Safety requirements.

The successful candidate will work with the current team to cover the Centre's opening hours which will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays, hence the ability to work flexibly is essential. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a successful department and contribute to its continuing development.

Responsible to: Colfe’s School Operations Director

Specific Responsibilities:
• Delivering a quality leisure experience for CLS customers
• Managing, recruiting, training and supervising staff
• Managing hirers and lettings of the leisure centre and school including holiday camp
• Coordinating use of the leisure centre’s facilities between the School and CLS’ customers
• Manage any works / contractors within the leisure centre
• Work closely as a team with the school and a positive and friendly approach to ensure smooth operation of the centre
• Process and management of memberships, including monthly direct debit runs
• Overseeing the managing of staff rota’s
• Weekly meetings with the bursary department on all areas of the leisure centre
• Reporting to the Board of Directors
• Manage annual staff appraisals
• Regularly monitor and update website, social media
• Organising fitness activities and programmes
• Maintaining statistical and financial records
• Dealing with enquiries, complaints and emergencies
• CLS IT systems, including member activity booking (Connect) and membership (Learn2) systems
• Ensuring the centre is compliant in all aspects of Health and Safety including Risk Assessments
• Oversight of daily pool and plant room checks
• Oversight of other periodic checks (fire, electrical, water etc.)

Personal Specification:
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Great teamwork and diplomacy skills
• Awareness of importance of safeguarding in a school environment
• Good written and computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Experience of Gladstone Management Software desirable
• Ability to work to deadlines, be proactive and take initiative
• Ability to lead a team and communicate effectively to ensure smooth operation.
• A current NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) is essential, training can be provided
• A current PPO (Pool Plant Operators) qualification is essential, training can be provided
• Prior management or leisure centre work experience is essential
• A passion for working within the leisure industry and desire to learn & grow
• Patience and a good customer service when dealing with customers
• High standards of cleanliness and service with attention to detail

Normal hours are 40 hours per week, specific times to be agreed. The role requires flexibility and an element of weekend and bank holiday working.
