Do you have a proven track record of achieving results in a front-line leisure centre role?

After 3 years of delivering year on year improvements within Sports Services we now have in place ambitious plans to ‘step up the service’ to take us to the next level. Exciting plans for capital improvement have been approved and the Service is growing in confidence and ambition to continue the next phase of transformation and improvement.

Join us and you’ll play a key role in transforming the Council’s approach to Sport, Leisure and Exercise. Across the City we have seven leisure centres with swimming pools and gyms; My Active Leicester digital platform, a climbing wall; an athletics track; a golf facility and several dedicated football pitches. Our highly qualified staff in the centres provide excellent customer service to ensure the residents of Leicester have a welcoming and friendly environment to do exercise, attend fitness classes and go swimming. Working closely with the managers, you’ll be a valued member in delivering Active Leicester’s service values.

We have full-time, permanent posts and a full-time, fixed term post for 12 months, working on a shift basis across our full centre opening hours which includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. Current vacancies are at Spence Street Sports Centre, Evington Leisure Centre and Braunstone Leisure Centre although these may be subject to change.

What you'll be doing

As a dynamic Leisure Centre Supervisor, you’ll assist the General Manager and Assistant Manager to ensure that the leisure centre operates to its planned programme in the delivery of aquatics, health & fitness, and centre operation targets.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the leisure centre, ensuring the health and safety of staff and customers, and guaranteeing the highest standards of service. This includes the allocation of and supervision of staff to enable the smooth operation of the facility, as well as ensuring that areas across the facility are clean, well maintained and in good working order.

What you'll need

With previous experience of working in a leisure centre or similar environment, you’ll have the knowledge and understanding of how-to co-ordinate leisure centre staff to deliver effective centre operations and service delivery.

You’ll have experience of supervising staff performance/development and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and other guidance in relation to leisure centre operations.

Using excellent communications skills, you’ll work as part of a team and lead by example to motivate your team.

You’ll have a can-do attitude, be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced and busy environment and self-manage.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance.

You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working.

We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities.

In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including childcare vouchers, discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate.
