Trump Organisation in talks over future of Scottish golf development
A private meeting was held yesterday surrounding the future of Donald Trump’s proposed golf course and resort at the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire.
The property tycoon had threatened to withdraw the multi-million pound Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, if a planned offshore wind farm – championed by the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) – was built near the resort site, due to concerns that ocean views would be obstructed.
However, the plans for the wind farm have been amended since Trump’s objection and the site of the development is now four miles from the dunes allocated for the golf course.
A spokesperson for AREG said senior officials from AREG, Amec and the Trump Organisation met yesterday at an undisclosed location near the Menie Estate site, to have an “open an informative discussion”.
The spokesperson said that information was shared on both projects and the Trump Organisation will now reflect on the discussion before an as-yet-unannounced second meeting. AREG said that the meeting “laid a foundation for future constructive dialogue.”
Mr Trump landed in Scotland today for his first official visit to the Aberdeenshire site. Details: www.trumpgolfscotland.com
