Barry leisure facilities set for £400k overhaul
The Vale of Glamorgan Council (VGC) has announced that £400,000 is to be invested in a series of improvements to three leisure facilities in Barry, South Wales.
Colcot Sports Centre's Hammer Strength Gym is to be moved to a new, larger venue at the Holm View Leisure Centre and will accommodate twice as many stations. While the majority of the new Hammer Strength Gym will feature weight training machines, cardiovascular stations not previously available will now be on offer.
The space occupied by the gym at Colcot Sports Centre will be transformed into additional changing facilities for football. Meanwhile, Barry Leisure Centre's dry-side changing areas will be overhauled, while a new dance studio and new security systems will be installed.
VGC cabinet member for leisure and tourism Anthony Ernest said: "The Hammer Strength Gym is moving to Holm View as unfortunately there isn't room at the Colcot to expand the current gym there." Work is due to be completed at Holm View Leisure Centre by the end of March, while work at Barry Leisure Centre is due for completion by the end of April.
