Birse seeks buyers for 'off-the-peg' stadia
Stadium constructor, Birse, is still attempting to find buyers for its 'off-the-peg' football stadiums six months after their launch.
The stadia Birse concept is a pre-designed, ready-made stadium with a 10,000-person capacity, specifically designed for non-premiership clubs. Costing around £7m, the stadium includes changing rooms, management offices, ticket offices and media facilities.
Despite Birse's confidence that the adaptable stadium suits most locations, potential buyers have been sparse. Colin Fearns, the Birse director in charge of stadia Birse, explained the objectives of the project: Our one stop approach simplifies the procurement route for the smaller clubs offering a practical solutions and excellent facilities which operate safely and efficiently for a guaranteed maximum price.
Birse has a successful track record in the construction of football stadiums. Having worked on both Old Trafford and the Reebok Stadium in Bolton, the company was recently been awarded a £26.6m contract for a 32,000-seater stadium for Leicester City.
Managing director, Martin Peat, anticipates will be an excellent facility: We are delighted to have been selected by Leicester City Football Club as construction partners for their new stadium which, when complete, will be one of the finest in Europe.
