Blue Reef opens children’s wet play area
Blue Reef Aquarium in Southsea, Portsmouth, has opened a new outdoor wet play area for its younger visitors.
The £250,000 Blue Reef Beach Club features a 50-tonne sandy beach and an outdoor splash play area boasting giant water nozzles, showers and sprays.
The new attraction also includes a wobbly pirates’ bridge, stepping stones, a covered picnic area and grassed sundecks.
Marketing director Nikki Smith said: “The outdoor area adds an exciting outdoor dimension for younger groups to let off steam while adults can relax under the picnic area or on the sun decks.
“The area is fully enclosed within the aquarium, making it a safe and secure environment for youngsters of all ages to explore.”
The aquarium is also hosting children’s marine-themed workshops and activities throughout the year.
Weymouth-based Nautilus Design developed the new club.
