CEO of London's tourism agency quits
Visit London, the UK capital's tourism agency, will be looking for a new chief executive following the resignation of James Bidwell.
After three years as CEO of the agency, Bidwell will be moving on at the end of 2008 to become European managing director of American retailer Anthropologie, which is expected to launch up to 40 stores in Europe over the next five years.
London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "James has made a tremendous contribution to tourism in London. He guided the industry after the tragic bombings in July 2005 when tourism faced tough times. Visit London has flourished under his leadership."
Earlier this year it was announced that the tourism agency could be forced to make redundancies following a less than anticipated budget increase from the London Development Agency.
The tourism agency is expected to receive lower than a two per cent increase in 2008-09, less than half the current 4.4 per cent rate of inflation.
The capital's tourism industry is worth over £16bn to the local economy and supports over 250,000 full-time jobs.
