Lord Crewe's Charity, owner of the historic Lord Crewe Arms hotel and restaurant in Blanchland, Northumberland, has agreed to sell the leasehold on the property for an undisclosed sum.

The 21-bedroom hotel, which dates back to the 12th century, has been taken over by J&G Inns, an independently-owned hospitality group. J&G will take over the operation of the hotel with immediate effect.

As well as accommodation, the hotel boasts a 54-cover restaurant, a stone vaulted bar and a large garden - formerly the Abbey cloisters.
