Consultation starts on Aberdeen centre
A public consultation on plans for a new sports complex in Dyce, Aberdeen, is underway on behalf of Dyce Sports and Leisure Development Trust.
The trust wants to develop leisure facilities on a 17-acre site and could include an indoor bowling green, football pitches and gymnasiums. The trust has had financial help from Dyce Development and Amenities Committee and Dyce and Newhills Community Council, plus a grant of £10,000 under the Big Lottery Awards for All scheme. It has also had much help and extensive practical advice from Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations (ACVO).
Should the project meet public approval, a planning application will be submitted in Autumn 2009 to the council. The voluntary body is formed by representatives of various community and sports groups including Dyce and Newhills Community Council, Dyce Development and Amenities Committee, Dyce Indoor Bowling Club, City of Aberdeen Gymnastics, Dyce Amateurs FC and Dyce Boys FC.
