Crunch Fitness has secured a tie up with Everlast, manufacturers of boxing equipment and sports apparel.

Everlast will provide the Kips Bay Crunch health club in New York City with a full range of boxing equipment and heavy bags and will sponsor Crunch Fitness' new 'fight Club,' a training class which culminates in a monthly boxing match.

Crunch is to introduce a boxing training certification programme for Crunch personal trainers which will be run by USA boxing and Everlast sponsored trainer, Teddy Atlas. A selection of Everlast equipment and apparel will be for sale to members of Crunch clubs.

Based in New York City, Crunch is one of the Bally Total Fitness brands. It is renowned for fusing fitness and entertainment and prides itself on 'changing the way the world looks at fitness.'

Jim Solomon who is president and CEO of Crunch Fitness thinks the new tie up will strike a chord with members who want something different:

'As the world's preeminent boxing brand, our association with Everlast will allow us to provide a boxing program paramount to any in the fitness industry. This program will be a hit with Crunch's uniquely diverse audience.'

Chairman and CEO of Everlast, George Horowitz says:

'Our relationship with Crunch is another important step in our marketing strategy to capitalise on the growing popularity of boxing as a fitness activity. Crunch is the ideal partner because they are well known for being the most progressive gym in the United States.'

The Everlast/Crunch joint program will debut at the Kips Bay club on 18 March. Former heavyweight champion Larry Homes will be there, to spar with ten members who won a competition organised by the club.
