David Lloyd announces record sales for January
David Lloyd Leisure has revealed a personal best for new memberships with more than 12,000 people joining the health and racquet chain in January.
January is traditionally the strongest month for new memberships but backed by a strong marketing campaign David Lloyd welcomed some 11,500 members across its existing 45 clubs, up 50 per cent in like-for-like sales on the previous year. Additionally, a further 700 members have joined the new Southampton site ahead of its April opening.
The figures follow David Lloyd's strong Christmas results of a 27.8 per cent rise in sales and Whitbread chief executive, David Thomas, says business is booming: With annual growth of 26 per cent, the active leisure market is an exciting place to be in at the moment. David Lloyd Leisure has followed up a tremendous Christmas trading period with its best ever sales performance, to strengthen its position as the UK's preferred brand.
