ECB's academy to get underway
Work is due to start next week on the England and Wales Cricket Board's National Cricket Academy at Loughborough University.
Costing around £4m, the facility will include an indoor cricket centre with six lanes, a fitness centre, a recovery area with hot and cold spa baths, a performance analysis suite and accommodation for the academy staff.
While priority for the use of facilities will be given to the National Academy, the centre will provide year-round facilities for the whole of English cricket said Hugh Morris, ECB performance director: 'It will be a place for our own where the very best male and female players can be developed and looked after to give them the best chance of achieving excellence at the highest level.'
The facilities will be available for use for the start of the 2003-4 National Academy squad intake in October 2003.Details: +44 (0)20 7432 1200.
