ETC heads 'tourism cabinet'
The English Tourism Council has established a 12-strong 'Tourism Cabinet' to implement the organisation's domestic and international recovery plan in light of the foot and mouth crisis. The aims of the cabinet include; co-ordinating international, national and regional tourism recovery plans; communicating best practice and advice in reacting to the crisis; and maintaining communications with relevant government departments. The cabinet will also oversee the vast public relations and advertising campaign to encourage rural tourism in England over the forthcoming Whitsun and May Bank holidays. ETC chief executive, Mary Lynch, says the cabinet hopes to tackle the industry's vast task ahead: None of us underestimate the scale of the challenges facing the tourism industry at the moment and we need to work together to address them, she says.
