Edinburgh's Royal Mile future discussed
Around 100 local residents and businesses have attended an event organised by the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) in a bid to debate the future of the Scottish capital's Royal Mile.
The local authority said that action is required to maximise the historic street's potential for both residents and visitors, with three key areas earmarked for improvements.
Among the issues targeted by CEC is the day-to-day management of the Royal Mile, which has an international reputation for its rich heritage, architecture and culture.
Tom Buchanan, convener of CEC's economic development committee, said: "We need to work with local people on the day to day running of the street to ensure that it remains a must see destination."
