England Netball invests £200k in Life Centre
England Netball has committed to invest £200,000 into Plymouth's new £46.5m Life Centre.
The governing body is providing financial support for the project as part of its four-year capital investment programme, for the Life Centre to further its potential as a Regional and County Netball Centre.
England Netball chief executive, Paul Clark, said: "Under our whole sport plan, England netball was granted £800,000 of capital to invest in facilities and facilities development and to work with partners with whom we had established, or were in the process of establishing, a relationship.
"Buying into major projects makes very good sense for netball - the Life Centre supports Sport England and England Netball's strategic objectives. It's about increasing the number of people playing netball and significantly improving the experience of people playing netball in this area.
"Our aspiration is to provide a high-quality netball centre within the facility, servicing all levels of our game - regionally, across the county and in the community."
When it opens in autumn next year, the Life Centre will boast a leisure pool with flumes, beach entry and a bubble pool; a climbing zone with a 15m (49ft) wall and aerial assault course; an eight-lane bowls centre and a 12-court, multi-use sports hall.
A 150-station fitness suite; a 10-lane, Olympic-sized swimming pool with moveable floors and submersible boom; a diving pool; multi-purpose areas for dance and martial arts and a youth gym also form part of the plans, as well as a sauna and a steamroom.
