FIA takes breakfast with government
The FIA is to present a paper to government ministers, special advisors and civil servants at a breakfast conference in 11 Downing Street.
The paper, to be given this month, will form part of a submission detailing the importance of fitness and sport to the economy and the nation's health. It will be introduced by Richard Caborn, Minister for Sport and concluded by Public Health Minister Hazel Blears.
The breakfast meeting, organised by the Smith Institute, will raise the profile of the fitness industry and highlight important issues in British sport and recreation. The FIA's paper, presented by executive director Nigel Wallace, will focus on the role of the health club sector, talking about the value of exercise, the high levels of British obesity, and the need for government support.
Wallace says: 'This is an excellent opportunity to educate the government and other public figures about issues facing the industry and the health concerns of the nation.'
