The health and fitness industry still hasn't peaked according to the Fitness Industry Association. Eighty per cent of operators think that 2001 will follow on from the success of last year. In 2000, two thirds of sites noted an increase in membership, turnover was up at 78 per cent of clubs and 80 per cent said their profits increased. Executive director of the FIA, Nigel Wallace, says: 'The results are reassuring, especially at at time when we are gaining recognition from the government for the part we can play in the nation's health and wellbeing.'
