Flame award winners announced
The Fitness Industry Association (FIA) revealed the 2007 Flame award winners at the Leisure Industry Week in Birmingham last week.
Companies and individuals were given gongs in seven different categories. Vale Health & Racquets Club in Pontyclu, Wales, won the Club of the Year award in the largest category – over 4,000 members.
Branston Golf & Country Club in Burton on Trent won the club of year for facilities with a membership between 2,500-4,000, and Spirit Health Club in Belfast was given the same award for sites with a membership of 1,000-2,5000. Avalon Lifestyle Centre in Bristol was named club of the year in the under 1,000 members category.
Centre of the Year award went to Hillsborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield, while Soar Valley Leisure Centre in Loughborough won the Spirit of Flame award. Royal Bank of Scotland Health and Leisure Club in Edinburgh was given the Corporate Club of the Year award.
Announcing the winners, Andrée Deane, chief executive of FIA, said: “These awards pay tribute to those centres and clubs who have shown exceptional innovation in their business approach and customer service and pave the way for the future of the industry.”
