Forest Recreation Ground revamp bid being prepared
The Forest Recreation Ground in Nottingham is to be the subject of a public consultation to see how to regenerate the park.
The historical park is one of the city’s biggest, and for the last four years the City Council and the -Partnership Council have been working on plans to restore it to its former glory. The project is also backed by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).
Plans currently include restoring the lodge and the pavilion, improving access to sporting facilities and giving the whole area a makeover.
Nottingham residents will now get the chance to give their views on the park as the council prepares a bid for National Lottery cash, which will be submitted this summer.
Dave Trimble, the city councillor responsible for parks and open spaces, said: “We have a fantastic opportunity to transform the Forest Recreation Ground. If we’re successful, our plans have the potential to make such a positive impact in the community and give local people a park they can truly be proud of.”
