Forestry Commission Scotland is looking to sell four of its properties in Galloway Forest Park to companies that could help turn it into a top tourism destination.

The commission’s goal is to double the park’s visitor numbers to 1.6 million people each year by the end of 2015, so is hoping to attract companies with ideas to create new green tourism centres.

Keith Muir from the commission’s Galloway office said: “We’re keen to hear from anyone who has a great idea for turning any of these buildings into a tourism venue – ideally one that fits with the setting and with our ethos of promoting the health and recreational benefits of visiting forests.”

The four properties are called Corwar, Glenhead, Craigencallie and Caldons.
