Glazer’s bid for Man Utd back on?
Malcolm Glazer, the American millionaire who has been trying to take control of English Premiership football club Manchester United (MUFC) since last October, is thought to be lining up a fresh bid for the team.
According to Reuters, Glazer has now secured the backing of JP Morgan – the investment bank which had earlier refused to take part in a hostile takeover, following Glazer’s ousting of three MUFC board members at the club’s AGM.
It is understood that JP Morgan would now back Glazer if he was able to agree a friendly deal with MUFC’s board.
MUFC said there was no chance in the current situation, with a spokesperson stating that the club “does not intend to open discussions on this matter unless it receives a definite proposal from Glazer.”
