Hangfast Adventure Engineering has completed work on Gravity, a multi-level outdoor adventure installation at Lancaster’s Salt Ayre Leisure Centre.

Gravity measures over 60ft in height and is expected to attract over 8,000 visitors to the centre following its opening on 11 February 2017.
The tower will include six possible descent options including a zipline and Flightline, a revolutionary free fall device situated at the highest point of the tower to give users a true free fall experience with a ‘soft catch.’

It also features The Drop, a jump off point with a 19.5 metre apex.
The tower is part of a £5m plan to redevelop the centre. It is comprised of more than 57 tonnes of steel, 2000 bolts and 800 metres of wooden cladding. Work on the tower began in October 2016 and has taken over 1000 hours to complete.

John Beers, founder and director of Hangfast Adventure Engineering, said: “It’s fantastic to see Europe’s first ever Flight Tower, Gravity, complete. It’s an incredible structure and a real coup for Salt Ayre Leisure Centre and the people of Lancaster.”
Cllr Darren Clifford, Lancaster City Council’s Cabinet member responsible for sport and leisure, said: “Anticipation is really building for the launch of Gravity. It’s an integral part of the £5m redevelopment of Salt Ayre and our goal of creating a leisure destination that has something for the entire community.”
