Home given permission to reopen
London's Home nightclub is to reopen less than one month after closure due to drugs offences. The £10m club will have to adhere to conditions including more rigourous searches, tighter security procedures and no admission after 1am. Meanwhile, however, its operator, Big Beat, has gone into receivership following the closure of the Leicester Square operation after police found 'open' drug use and dealing. KPMG Corporate Recovery has been appointed to look after the Glasgow-based operator, and a spokesperson has said that Big Beat's 23 venues are trading as usual while buyers are sought. Westminster City Council returned Home's public entertainment licence but warned that it was 'on probation'. Carl Powell, director of planning at Westminster City Council says the issue sends out ' a clear message to the rest of the industry'. It is not yet clear exactly when the club will reopen.
