Hotel du Vin in £17m deal for two new sites
Boutique hotel chain Hotel du Vin is to open two new sites, in York and Cambridge, in a £17m deal.
Both properties will open in 2007 – Cambridge’s Hotel du Vin will be on Trumpington Street in a Grade II-listed building, while the York hotel will be located in the former Shepherd Homes Building on The Mount. Both hotels will offer 42 bedrooms.
Once refurbished, some of the rooms in the Cambridge Hotel du Vin will have private gardens as well as a general bistro area and cigar rooms.
The York site will be set in four acres of gardens and will boast a bistro and cigar and billiard rooms.
Hotel du Vin’s owner, Marylebone Warwick Balfour, is also pursuing new sites in Durham, Chester and Edinburgh and reportedly hopes to sign a further two sites by the end of this year. Details: www.hotelduvin.com
