IOC commission to visit 2012 sites
The International Olympic Committee’s Coordination Commission for the London 2012 Games will visit the capital this week to assess the London Organising Committee (LOCOG)’s progress over the past year.
During the three-day visit (20-22 May), the Coordination Commission will look at a number of Games-related topics and visit some of the sites of the future Olympic venues as well as meet some of the London Games key partners.
As well as discussing with LOCOG and its partners the progress made since the Commission’s last visit, the Commission members will use their vast experience of the Games and of the organisation of sports events to help guide and advise LOCOG in areas as varied as sport, marketing, media operations, workforce and the cultural Olympiad.
This will be the third visit to London by the Commission, which is chaired by former Swiss Olympic rower Denis Oswald.
