In its role as the professional body for sport, parks and leisure, ISPAL seeks to reward exceptional service to the industry and provide recognition for excellence in the form of two awards:

  • Innovative project that increases participation in physical activity (group);
  • A leader who has demonstrated outstanding achievement which cuts across physical activities in open spaces
The presentations will be given out at the ISPAL Gala Awards dinner as part of the National Conference on 2nd July 2009, and the awards will comprise of a personal trophy retained by the winners, a trophy to be held for one year and a free delegate place at the Conference.

Innovative project that increases participation in physical activity (group) Judges will be seeking to identify:

  • A project that improves the lives of those to whom it is directed
  • Demonstrates innovation
  • A project/scheme that meets its objective
  • What partnerships were created?
  • Sustainability - which will relate to pump prime funding and beyond
  • Community involvement
  • Learning and Development outcomes for those involved with the project
A leader who has demonstrated outstanding achievement, which has led to an improvement in the lives of others in the local community

Judges will be seeking to identify:

  • A Demonstration on excellence
  • Leadership has influenced improvement on either staff performance or experience of the community
  • Targets met and exceeded
  • Commitment to their discipline
  • Innovative use of design, materials, location and influence
  • Improving standards within their profession
ISPAL is keen to encourage as wide a range of entries for the awards as possible from all sectors of sport, parks and leisure from public, private and voluntary organisations.
