Inverness leisure pool to reopen in March
The leisure pool facilities at Inverness Leisure in northern Scotland could be set to reopen in March after a fire forced the closure of the complex's swimming facilities in September last year.
Remedial work resumed this week following the festive period to repair the leisure waters following the blaze in the centre's plant room, which includes a wave pool, flumes and a river with a flowing current. James Martin, Inverness Leisure general manager, said: "Following discussions with our project manager and contractors, it now looks likely to be March before works will be completed in order to allow the leisure pool to fully reopen to the public.
"We have been conscious that we want to ensure the equipment used to replace the items damaged in the fire is to a high quality so as not to present problems in the future when the system is reset." In November, the centre's competition pool reopened, while dryside facilities at the complex, including two climbing walls, a 70-station gym and two multi-use sports halls were unaffected by the closures.
