Kingswood facility set for £2.5m overhaul
Local residents in Kingswood, Gloucestershire, are being asked to comment on the local authority's plans for the major £2.5m revamp of a local leisure facility.
South Gloucestershire Council's (SGC) public consultation is set to run until 9 April to gather feedback into the proposals, which aim to transform Kingswood Leisure Centre. The scheme, which is due to get underway in April, will include the provision of improved access for users, a new reception area, new gym facilities and a revamped pool and viewing area.
Upgraded changing rooms and the installation of a new boiler and roof are also earmarked as part of the renovation programme, due to be completed in December. SGC executive member for communities Heather Goddard said: "The council is very committed to improving leisure and sports facilities across the district, to help encourage people to exercise and lead healthy, active lives."
South Gloucestershire Leisure Trust operates the facility on behalf of the council, which currently boasts a four-court sports hall, a 33.3m swimming pool and a 32-station gym, as well as a spinning studio and two squash courts.
