King’s Cross plans given green light by council
Camden Council has given the go-ahead to the £2bn plans to transform the rundown area between King’s Cross and St Pancras railway stations in London.
The 67-acre mixed-used development will cover 742,000sq m (8million sq ft) and include 10 new public spaces, 1,800 new homes and 20 major new public routes.
Roger Madelin, chief executive of the developer behind the scheme, Argent, said: “It has taken us six years of hard work and consultation with the local community, Camden and Islington Councils and other key stakeholders to achieve this decision.
"It reflects a broad consensus and we aim to start on site later this year and expect to deliver a first phase by 2010 and second major phase by the 2012 Olympics.” Details: www.argentkingscross.com
