Leisure Database and Sport England to launch public register of facilities
The Leisure Database Company has signed a contract with Sport England to supply and maintain sports data in a public-private partnership to aid both sports and fitness professionals and consumers.
The deal involves setting up a register of sports facilities in England, which will include the creation of a public website providing comprehensive information about sporting facilities.
David Minton, director of the Leisure Database Company, said: “The register will ensure that sports data for England can be relied upon and as such will become an integral tool for leisure management companies and local authorities, in their assessment of gaps in sporting provision and priorities for future investment.
“Analysis of the intelligence found on the register will ensure that government funds are being put to best use and local authorities will be able to run thorough best value reviews,” he said. Also see feature by David Minton in Health Club Management, May 2004
