Liverpool receives takeover approach

Liverpool Football Club has received a takeover approach from George Gillett, the owner of the Montreal Canadiens ice hockey team.
The Reds announced a month ago that the club had been in talks with Dubai International Capital (DIC), but the Financial Times reported that Gillett’s offer was worth £5,000 per share – £500 per share more than DIC’s.
The club has confirmed that it has received an approach, saying that it may or may not lead to an offer and that shareholders will be kept informed “as appropriate”.
