Multi-million pound health club development underway in Cleveland
Springs health club chain is ready to file for planning permission for a new £4.5m fitness, leisure and tennis facility in a joint venture with Middlesborough-based Tennis World.
The Tennis World site on Marton Road, Middlesborough, will be extensively enlarged and renovated and will accommodate a state-of-the-art fitness and leisure club.
Facilities will include hair and beauty salons, a crèche, a function room with an adjoining bar and an extensive spa area providing holistic treatments and a swimming pool. The Scheme has secured backing from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
The new joint partnership will liase closely with the local authority and will hope to create more than 60 new career opportunities in the area.
Nigel Garton, the director of tennis for the LTA in the area said “The proposed facility is an exciting project which will enable us to widen our range of facilities and enhance even further the reputation we enjoy.”
The building work is expected to take around six months after the planning permission is granted. Jack Ramsey, spokesman for Springs, said “Now we have secured the backing from the LTA, we are going to send the applications to the council during the next few days.”
Springs owns and operates seven five-star clubs throughout the north east, all created by Tyneside entrepreneur, Stan Henry. Tennis World is one of the UK’s top five performance accredited centres.
