National Physical Activity Initiative Launched by sporta
Sporta has launched an important new marketing initiative that will put trusts at the centre of the physical activity agenda.
The initiative, which will involve using a "get active" logo and supporting marketing material for trusts' facilities and services, is a way of bringing together sporta members under one over-arching physical activity message.
Trusts will be asked to commit to the overall message of the initiative and to use the "get active" message where possible. Craig McAteer, Chair of sporta, said: "It is essential that trusts are seen by national government and local councils as a key partner in delivering increased physical activity and participation messages. We will be talking to our partners in the health sector this autumn about how it can contribute towards their aims. I would urge all trusts to support this initiative."
The concept has been developed by the Marketing Group of sporta, which is chaired by Karen Burrell of Freedom Leisure.
"This initiative is incredibly simple and involves a nominal cost," she said.
"It will help not just nationally in terms of working with government, but also at local level when developing partnerships and trying to access funding from health partners.
"We have had lots of great feedback and over 20 trusts have already committed to the concept. We will look to firm up our proposals in the autumn."
