New lottery games to fund Olympics
National lottery operator, Camelot, has announced plans for five new games to help fund the 2012 Olympic Games if London wins the bid to host the event.
An Olympic Change game would see tickets sold at 1p each, with the chance to win five £25,000 daily prizes. There would also be a weekly draw - offering prizes ranging from £20 to £200,000 for the cost of a £2 ticket - and a mega-draw twice a year, costing £5 per ticket and with a £5m maximum payout.
Olympic scratchcards will be another option for the punter, costing £1 to £5 each and offering cash and holiday prizes. An Olympic TV Challenge game has also been proposed.
All of the games will need approval from the lottery regulator before they can be introduced and they will be the first in the history of the UK lottery to raise money for a specific cause. If approval is received, the new lottery games will commence next year, with the money being donated to other sports projects in the event of London's bid to host the Olympics failing.
