Newquay surf school on the market for £2m
The Reef Surf business in Newquay has been put up for sale for £2m.
The business, which is located on Great Western Beach, comprises Reef Surf Lodge, Reef Surf School and Reef Surfing Centre, which offers beach hire, a beach café and a shop.
The Surf Lodge has 18 bedrooms, which can accomodate a total of 109 guests, and a 90-cover bar and restaurant.
Founder and current owner Anthony Rowett, who started the surf school from the back of a campervan nine years ago, is selling the business to go in search of the ‘perfect wave’.
“The demand for all-year-round surfing is so high that we open 12 months a year and run the school 10 months of the year too,” he said.
Rowett is expected to report annual turnover of close to £750,000 for 2005. The surfing industry is worth an estimated £73m to businesses in Cornwall. Details: www.reefsurfschool.com
