Northumbria launches Powerpass
For the fifth successive year, the Northumbria Tourist Board is launching its Powerpass scheme, which apart from providing cardholders with reduced price access to a variety of attractions, also generates income for local charities. The new guide for visiting Northumbria, Going Places, lists places that welcome the powerpass, entitling two people entry for the price of one. Each card, available from tourist information centres and Northern Electric and Gas shops, is priced at £1 with all proceeds going to local charities. Julia Kenyon, public affairs manager at Northern Electric and Gas, says she is delighted with the success for the Powerpass scheme: Not only have thousands of families in the region benefited, but, importantly, so have many of the regions charities.
