Official opening of Lough Neagh Discovery Centre
The Lough Neagh Discovery Centre (LNDC) in Craigavon, Northern Ireland, has reopened after a £900,000 refurbishment.
Located in the Oxford Island Nature Reserve, the centre now features a split-level restaurant with a mezzanine upper floor; a multi-function area for up to 200 people; a new education room and an enlarged reception and shop area.
The first major investment in the site in a decade, the project has been predominantly funded by Craigavon Borough Council along with a £190,000 grant from the Lough Neagh Partnership.
The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has reported that LNDC and Oxford Island are the second most popular attractions in the country, after Giants Causeway. Details: www.carigavon.gov.uk
