One Devonshire Gardens to be converted into Hotel du Vin
Malmaison Holdings has today completed its acquisition of the luxury One Devonshire Gardens hotel in Glasgow from Citrus Hotels and announced plans to relaunch it as Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens in October this year.
The purchase is in line with the company’s expansion plans for the Hotel du Vin and Malmaison brands in the north of the UK; it has also acquired a site in Edinburgh and is negotiating for properties in Newcastle, St Andrews and Aberdeen.
One Devonshire Gardens is located within a series of Victorian townhouses and Malmaison plans to upgrade the bedrooms in house 5 and completely refurbish house 4, which was purchased by Citrus prior to selling the hotel. The work is expected to be complete by January 2007.
“One Devonshire Gardens is the perfect launch pad for Hotel du Vin in Scotland,” said Robert B. Cook, Hotel du Vin and Malmaison chief executive.
“We intend to maintain the very best of the One Devonshire brand, which is deservedly recognised as the definitive Scottish boutique hotel, while introducing the exceptional qualities that make Hotel du Vin the stylish destination of choice in cities throughout the UK.
“It is our intention to give Glasgow and Scotland a hotel it can continue to be truly proud of in Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens.”
The property was put on the market by Citrus for in excess of £8m.
