Paramount Pictures-based park planned for South Korea
Paramount Pictures has teamed up with Daewoo Motor Sales to explore the possibility of developing a theme park in South Korea.
Paramount – which sold its Paramount Parks division to Cedar Fair last June – and Seoul-based Daewoo plan to invest around US$800m (£403m, 595m euro) on the park, which is potentially going to be built on a 120-acre site in Inchon, an hour south of the capital.
The facility, which will be based on Paramount’s characters and films from its motion picture back catalogue, is expected include a five-star hotel and spa as well as retail outlets.
If the park gets the go ahead, construction is expected to begin this year and be finished before the 2014 Asian Games, which will be held in Inchon.
The park would be the first and only South Korean park to be owned and operated by a foreign entertainment firm.
