Play money to make real difference on south coast
The Big Lottery Fund has earmarked more than £500,000 in funding to create a play strategy on the south coast.
Bournemouth (£325,000) and Poole (£272,949) have both been given funds to enable the Borough’s to develop a joint play strategy.
Councillor Tony Woodcock, Poole’s lead member for children and young people said: “ The two towns have spent many months working together in preparing a play strategy and the funds will enable us to bring much needed resources to play and act as a springboard to our gaining further resources.”
Bournemouth YMCA was commissioned to work with both Boroughs in the development of a joint play strategy and this involved widespread consultation with a range of people and organisations, and the submission of two separate bids to the Big Lottery.
Funding will be used to appoint play rangers and develop a new play area at Butchers Coppice.
