REPs Level 4 Progress
The Register of Exercise Professionals’ (REPs) level 4 standards development group of experts re-convened in early June and agreed on a number of key aspects as to how the L4 qualification will be introduced.
The first six units – all in a clinical context – have been agreed, as well as setting the pre-requisites for recognition.
REPs will award the status of L4 “specialist exercise instructor” only if the member is an advanced instructor at level 3, has at least 1,200 hours of professional experience, has an additional context at level 3 (such as working with people with disabilities, older adults, personal training, etc.), and has completed a new professional studies unit which includes dealing with risk stratification as well as at least one of the current six L4 units. Further details will be released shortly.
