Scotland to host youth hockey tournament
Scottish Hockey has announced that the EuroHockey Youth Nations Championships will be held in Scotland for the first time this summer.
The combined men’s and women’s event will be held at the National Hockey Academy at Peffermill, which is owned by the University of Edinburgh and has two water-based pitches.
Held biennially, the EuroHockey event is a key part of the youth hockey calendar.
Scottish Hockey has appointed Evlyn Raistrick as the chair of the organising committee, which will work with a team of volunteers and Scottish Hockey staff.
Jacky Burnett, president of Scottish Hockey, said: "This is a great example of how partnership working is paying dividends in attracting world-class sporting events to Scotland.
"Significant funding from UK Sport, first-class facilities at the University of Edinburgh combined with Scottish Hockey’s proven track record in hosting international events will ensure that the EuroHockey Youth Nations Championships in 2007 are an unrivalled success."
