Sporting Lodge Inns acquires second site
Former Greenalls director, Ken Buckley, is expanding his Sporting Lodge Inns concept with the acquisition of The Greyhound Hotel in Leigh, Manchester. With one existing property in Bradford, Buckley is ready to roll out the Sporting Lodge brand with the £1.2m purchase of The Greyhound through Christies & Co.. Some £3m will be invested in the new property to follow the blueprint of the Bradford site of first-class accommodation, a carvery-style restaurant and a leisure complex with gym, swimming pool and sauna. Buckley says that the new acquisition heralds the beginning of a nationwide expansion plan: We believe that Sporting Lodge Inns has developed a formula that seriously challenges the competition in terms of quality and value for money, and the purchase of The Greyhound marks the next stage in what we hope will be a country-wide roll out.
