The Ivy clings to top spot
The publication of the Zagat Survey of London Restaurants has confirmed that The Ivy restaurant in Leicester Square has been voted the capital's most popular dining venue for the fourth year running.
The Ivy which plays host to many top celebrities who come for the simple traditional food and excellent service, and was ranked by the 3,709 participating reviewers as their favourite overall restaurant, due in no small part to the opportunity for 'star-spotting'.
Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea successfully defended its title as the best food in the capital, with food being described as superb and indescribably wonderful although a touch pricey.
The price of London cuisine was a feature of the survey which identified that London is now the second most expensive city in the world in which to eat. An average meal in London costs £30.85 which is cheaper only than Tokyo at £40.55. However, the survey also indicated that the standards of London's restaurants are on the increase, and that the city is a more interesting place in which to eat than Paris.
