Total Fitness transforms old water depot
Total Fitness UK has added a new 84,000sq ft site to its chain of health and fitness clubs.
The facility, which opened at the end of May in Prenton, Birkenhead, has been built by developers Arrowcroft Northwest on the site of a former Northwest Water depot.
As well as three exercise studios, a fitness suite and a ladies-only gym, it includes both a 25m and a 12m swimming pool plus a hydrotherapy pool.
The club, which cost more than £7m to build, also features a sauna, steam room and sanarium as well as two squash courts and a 200m, four-lane, indoor running track.
Robin Johnson, chief executive of Total Fitness, said: 'Our aim is to always offer unrivalled facilities at value for money prices and the public seem to think we are doing just that because the membership response has been fantastic. Our experience is that if you offer people what they want at a price they can afford, then you will be successful.'
The Prenton club is the 15th to be opened by Total Fitness, which has one of the largest clubs in the UK in Wilmslow. The group now has plans to open a further four sites in the North of England and Republic of Ireland within the next year. Details: +44 (0)161 702 8222
