Tottenham Hotspur reveals record results
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (THFC) has revealed that the money received from multi-million pound player transfer deals has led to the club reporting record operating profits for the six months to 31 December 2008.
Revenue also increased by £400,000 compared with the same period in the previous year through higher income from gate receipts, media and broadcasting agreements and sponsorship deals. THFC chair Daniel Levy said that preliminary works are set to get underway in April on a new 60-acre (24.3-hectare) training facility in Enfield, north London, while a full planning application for the redevelopment of the club's White Hart Lane stadium is expected to be submitted in the next few months.
Levy said: "We have benefited from having a robust business that is well-financed and has continued to be able to support investment in the first team, while progressing two major capital expenditure projects – the new training centre and the Northumberland Development Project. "We remain mindful of the prevailing economic climate from which no-one can consider themselves immune."
