UK hotels receive world praise
Travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller has voted five British hotels in its top 25 new hotels in the world. Ian Schrager's year-old Sanderson Hotel, the Charlotte Street Hotel and the Westbourne in London join Rick's in Edinburgh and The Big Sleep Hotel in Cardiff in the list which also includes hotels from Mexico, Mauritius and Botswana. The magazine praised Rick's in Edinburgh for its 'singular sense of style and place' and the Sanderson for being 'unapologetically sexy, sensual and surreal.' The Big Sleep Hotel in Cardiff is the most economical of the properties featured. Co-owned by Hollywood star John Malkovich, the £45 per night hotel, adjacent to Cardiff's railway station has no restaurant but was described by Condé Nast as 'a godsend' for business travellers fed up with paying through the nose.
