University of Ulster unveils new gym
The University of Ulster has unveiled a new fitness suite at its Magee campus in Londonderry.
The facility, which is located in the halls of residence complex, boasts £40,000 worth of Technogym equipment and an Olympic-standard weight-training area.
Stephen Street, sport and recreation manager at Magee, said: “The university has four fitness suites in three sports centres and the Magee fitness facility was chosen to pilot the Technogym equipment.
“The student population is set to grow rapidly over the next five years and the demand for our facilities will also mushroom. I see the suite as phase one of a fully-fledged sports park.”
The gym will be open to students and staff as well as local schools and residents. Details: www.ulster.ac.uk
