Wales unveils sustainable tourism report
Welsh heritage minister Alun Ffred Jones has launched a new report outlining ways that the country's tourism industry can promote the use of public transport.
The Welsh Assembly Government study has been undertaken by the Sustainable Tourism and Transport task and finish group in order to find out what restrictions are placed on tourists using public transport. Among the recommendations laid down by the report is the provision of improved sustainable transport information for visitors and efforts to simplify ticketing arrangements, including integrated options.
Jones said: "We are keen to ensure that visitors to Wales have the opportunity to experience Wales' coast and countryside and associated visitor attractions by sustainable means. "Reducing visitors' dependency on the car will help reduce noise, air pollution and CO2 emissions related to tourism as well as reducing congestion and disruption to local people."
