Whitbread to reinvigorate Beefeater brand
Whitbread is to review its Beefeater brand following disappointing interim results.
The long-established pub restaurant brand, which has 250 sites across the UK, reported a 1.5 per cent increase in like-for-like sales. A Whitbread spokesman said action would be taken to improve the brand's offering: 'We have some very good sites that can do better. We may have to change menus or improve decor, but we know we can fix this.'
Like-for-like sales at fellow pub/restaurant brand, Brewers Fayre were up 3.1 per cent, but it was Travel Inn and the David Lloyd fitness clubs, which drove the company's positive trading update reporting like-for-like sales up 6.5 and 6.3 per cent respectively.
Whitbread plans to expand the Brewsters and Travel Inn brands across the UK over the next three years. Marriot also turned the corner returning to positive results in recent weeks. Details: +44 (0)20 7806 5436
